What's an AUP Violation?

We'll Explain why or How this Happened, How We Can Get Your Account Back into Good Standing, and How to Prevent This from Happening Again

What is an AUP Violation and Why Did It Happen to Me?

Our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for our email service has to be strictly followed to provide excellent email marketing to all our clients. If the AUP is violated, we must stop all campaigns from going out until we get this resolved to prevent your email from being permanently disabled. The most significant causes of the AUP being violated are "complaints" (emails being marked as spam), over 0.05% of the total. We have tools to find the complained emails to help prevent it in the future.

What about my emails that already went out?

Don't worry; the links in any emails you send out will fall back to link to your website.

How do we get my emails back sent out to my contacts?

As soon as you receive an AUP Violation, we will send you an email asking for the following information:

  • Date and time the recipient subscribed to your email distributions
  • Method used to subscribe this recipient to your distributions (Website form, account signup, hand collected)

The answers to those questions determine where we need to go from there. This can happen to anybody regardless of how good their mailing list is. So we need to verify a good mailing list is being used before we can get your outgoing emails back up and running. If you are using a bad list or are sending emails to people you don't have permission to, we will need to address that first.

How can I prevent this from happening again?

The best way to prevent future violations of the AUP is to ensure you have permission to email everyone in your contacts. You also need to ensure those emails are valid, as a high number of bounced emails can cause problems with the mail system.

A solid understanding of our AUP and how to prevent your campaigns from being suspended will put you on a successful path to using Snappy Kraken like a true pro.
